Proclaiming God's Word...Extending His Love

Meet our Pastor and Staff

Rev. Travis Henderson

My objective is to serve this congregation as their Pastor to help open doors to hope and wholeness with the congregation, the lay leaders, and the staff. To faithfully preach and teach the Word of God.  To train believers to study the word of God, not just read it.  I hope to encourage, lift up, and love people as Christ did.

Expository preaching is always biblical, and intentional. Wednesday and Sunday services vary in length. I base all sermons on God’s printed Word, the Bible, and God’s living Word, Jesus. I lift up God the Father, Jesus the savior, and the Holy Spirit our guide and comforter. Preaching and teaching is mostly expositional. Currently Sunday morning messages are from Ecclesiastes, and Sunday night messages are from the Gospel of John; as we study how to take the Gospel to the nations. Wednesday evening Bible studies are focused on questions that you may have. Our current series is "Ask the Pastor" questions are submitted to the pastor and he will study and give answers to questions you may have. We also have corporate prayer time every Wednesday evening.

The Morning Worship Service

The Sunday Morning Worship must help you the worshiper experience God. The service bridges time-honored worship with today; youth to tradition; and those not part of the church to the loving church of God.  The morning service is a blended worship service.  All are welcome in our church.  You will not be out of place by what you are wearing, the color of your skin, or where you work.  We are all children of God and made in his image.

The Evening Worship Service

The evening worship service is a time to help believers grapple with discipleship issues. The worship leads worshipers to discover Biblical truths about issues of life, develop community throughout the church, and to expand the kingdom of God one person at a time.

Leadership of People

Shared leadership style builds a trusting relationship between pastor, staff, and people in pursuit of the Great Commission’s objectives. Building on the strengths of all the members of the body maximizes the potential for God to accomplish His purpose and continually buildup the church. A healthy church has a trusting relationship between Pastor and people in pursuit of the Great Commission in which both achieve greater than expected.

My wife and I are both Knoxville natives, and while both of our children were born here they have spent most of their lives in North Carolina. I became a Christian at the early age of seven. My continuing passion is helping congregations follow and share Jesus everyday.  We want to be involved in the community and make a difference for the Kingdom of God.

Kevin Lum

Minister to Students

We welcome the Lum family to our church and Kevin as our new Minister to Students. Kevin grew up in central Mississippi while Crystal was raised in Northern Ohio. They met while they were both serving in the US Navy, married and started a family. Shawn and Kiley were both born in Portsmouth, Virginia. After their time in the military, they moved to Mississippi. They moved to Knoxville in July of 2013 and have fallen in love with the state and the Knoxville community.

Kevin’s plan as Minister of Students is to do whatever it takes to reach the students for Christ. Whether that includes evangelism or discipleship training remains to be seen, but he believes firmly that we should invest in the students as they are the future. Through much prayer and outreach, his hope is to see God bless Glenwood by growing the Student/Children’s ministries as His Will allows.

Sutton Fitzgerald
Minister of Music
Sutton is a native of Oak Ridge, TN, but has resided in Clinton, TN since 2010. He obtained a BA in Music from Carson-Newman University in 2013 and graduated with his Masters in Theological Studies from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Sutton has a passion for church music and missions, which he has been involved in both from and very early age. His goal is to help the church grow closer to God through worship; as well as closer together a church family and community, with the purpose of spreading the Gospel of our Lord and Savior.
